         D-Zine Hair & Art Studio began business in 1982 in Clayton, Missouri. In 1998, D-Zine moved to its present, and much expanded location at 6679 Delmar Blvd., in the Delmar Loop, a National Historic district. Since 1989, D-Zine has been located in the National Historic Delmar Loop, located 20 minutes from Lambert Airport and Downtown St. Louis and 5 minutes from the Clayton business district.     Denise Edgar began as a stylist at D-Zine in 1986. In 1989 she became a partner in the business. Then, in 1991, she purchased complete ownership and restructured the company as a subchapter S Corporation. In 1992, Ms. Edgar was admitted to Intercoiffure, an international affiliation of top salons around the world. Referrals from Intercoiffure are a significant component of business.

The great majority of customers generate repeat business and referral. In 2007, D-Zine Hair & Art Studio serviced more than 5,000 clients, many of whom have been coming to D-Zine Hair & Art Studio for 5 years or longer.

    Denise Edgar has been licensed as a Class A Cosmetologist, Aesthetician, and Manicurist since 1979 and as a cosmetologist instructor since 1996. She received her cosmetology education at La Plant school in St. Louis and at Capitol Beauty School in Omaha, NE. She also completed three years of undergraduate work studying psychology at the University of Missouri and Florissant Valley Community College. Over her career, Denise Edgar has trained and developed over 1000 stylists.

    In 1992, Denise Edgar directed the D-Zine Hair and Art salon team at the Intercoiffure Atelier in New York. That same year, she was awarded the Master of the Craft by the Los Angeles based Art and Fashion Group. She has contributed to local educational seminars in St. Louis and Kansas City and is a member of the National Cosmetology Association and The Salon Association. In 2001, she was honored with the rarely given Shining Star Award for outstanding service from Intercoiffure.
